Veterinarians and veterinary technicians are trained in treating patients and providing excellent care. However, veterinarians are legally allowed, and have historically, fulfilled the role of a pharmacy with regards to dispensing medications, meeting all of the DEA regulations for controlled substances, managing drug inventory, and sometimes even compounding. Unfortunately, these topics aren't covered much in school for veterinarians or veterinary technicians, so they can be a frustrating aspect of practice. 

Dr. Forsythe saw the challenges and frustrations occurring due to veterinarians trying to fulfill roles that they didn't go to school for. Therefore, she utilizes her veterinary experience combined with her pharmacy education and love for regulatory compliance to take away some of this stress. Dr. Forsythe works with each practice individually to identify areas of need and a unique plan to address those specific sore points. Depending on the needs of the practice, services may include developing comprehensive policies and SOPs to address regulatory compliance, educating staff on best practices, and/or an ongoing consulting relationship for those one of questions that always seem to come up unexpectedly and don't have a clear answer.

An initial consultation session takes about 30 minutes. During this time, the point person (or people) on your end will have a video call with Dr. Forsythe. The purpose of this call is to discuss your practice model and size, patient population, drug-related activities that are conducted, and your thoughts about specific needs. Based on this conversation, Dr. Forsythe will draft a formal proposal of the services that would best address your needs.

The length of the consulting process depends on the services needed, and the goals of the practice. Some services can be provided fully in a couple of months, while other times there may be benefit to an ongoing process over a year or more.
